There is enough corn in Ukraine to satisfy domestic demand for bioethanol
Corn is the main crop used for bioethanol production. In Ukraine, the crop production volumes are more than enough to cover the necessary demand from gas stations, said Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
According to him, domestic corn production in Ukraine will be able to fully cover the demand for the required share of bioethanol in gasoline. From May 1, adding biofuel to gasoline is mandatory.
“Preliminary calculations show that by the end of this year, our domestic bioethanol production will be able to fully cover the demand in terms of gasoline consumption and the share of bioethanol in gasoline. There will be no problems with this,” Vysotsky noted.
He noted that corn processing and bioethanol production in Ukraine are actively developing.
“There is a prospect of having significant plans for processing. Many plants are being launched, some plan to do it by the end of the year,” Vysotsky said.
The Deputy Minister also recalled that in recent years, corn production has exceeded 25 million tons, and there were years when it was almost 40 million tons. This year there will be a large corn crop again, and there are no problems with production.
