The harvest in Ukraine is running ahead of last year’s pace
As of August 18, Ukrainian farmers had harvested 30.84 mln tons of grain from 6.59 mln ha, or 56% of the projected area. Harvesting is running ahead of last year’s pace, when 6.19 mln ha had been harvested by the same date. The average grain yield currently stands at 4.68 t/ha.
Wheat accounts for the bulk of the harvest, with 23.82 mln tons collected from 4.86 mln ha at an average yield of 4.91 t/ha. Barley production has reached 6.24 mln tons at 4.34 t/ha, while the pea harvest totals 779 thsd tons at 2.63 t/ha.
Odesa region has recorded the largest harvest of early grains and pulses at 4.82 mln tons. Kirovohrad region has harvested 2.42 mln tons, while Mykolaiv region has collected 2.33 mln tons.
Meanwhile, Khmelnytskyi region currently has the highest average grain yield at 6.99 t/ha. The average yield stands at 5.98 t/ha in Sumy region and 5.95 t/ha in Vinnytsia region.
The rapeseed harvest is also nearing completion. Farmers have harvested 1.32 mln ha and collected 3.76 mln tons of rapeseed, with the average yield reaching 2.85 t/ha.
