Certified sustainable palm oil already accounts for 20% of the global market

Global sales of certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) reached 16.2 mln tons in 2025, accounting for 20% of the world’s palm oil supply, according to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Impact Report 2026.

The segment has significant potential for further growth. RSPO member growers currently have the capacity to produce 31.4 mln tons of certified sustainable palm oil, equivalent to around 39% of global production. This means CSPO could potentially account for nearly 40% of the world’s palm oil supply.

Certification is expanding particularly rapidly in Latin America, where RSPO members account for almost 75% of regional palm oil production, while 29.3% of output was RSPO-certified in 2024. CSPO supply increased by 46.23% in Africa and by 9.07% in Malaysia.

RSPO is also expanding its presence in key consuming markets. The organization now has 6,280 members across 103 countries and territories, with the strongest recent membership growth recorded in China, Indonesia and Japan.

At the same time, RSPO highlights the need to further expand global demand for certified products. In 2025, independent smallholders generated $7.9 mln through credit sales, but maintaining long-term economic incentives for them will depend on further growth in demand for sustainable palm oil.
