Sunflower seed exports in Russia will be under control from July 1
Decision of the Collegium of the Eurasian Economic Commission No. 78 of June 16, 2020, which stipulates that sunflower seed exports from the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union shall be subject to a permit-based regime, came into force on July 1, UkrAgroConsult reports.
The period of validity is until August 31, 2020.
The primary goals are to provide food security in view of the coronavirus pandemic and avoid a raw material shortage in the domestic market.
A ban on sunflower seed exports outside the EEU member countries was in force before July 1, 2020.
The Fat-and-Oil Union of Russia estimated oilseed processing capacities in 2019 at 23.4 MMT (80% utilized), and their further growth is expected: to 24.9 MMT in 2020 and to 25.5 MMT in 2021.
