State companies will be created in Ukraine to manage land and water resources

In 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to create unified state companies in the field of water, forest and land management.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the government meeting on January 3, the Government Portal reports.
He emphasized that the government maintains the course of privatization of state property. However, in some areas, the state must be an active player due to the sensitivity of these sectors for national security issues.
“In 2023, we will move towards the creation of unified state companies in the field of three strategic resources: land, water and forests. Instead of fragmentation, which gives rise to corruption, there is unification and strict control over the actions of managers,” Shmyhal noted.
According to him, state property should bring profits to Ukraine for its stability today and for its development tomorrow.
“We are also continuing the reform of public administration. There should be fewer officials. Ministries should be engaged in developing policies and regulations, not managing the real sector. Digitization will become the basis for a new format of interaction between the state, citizens and business,” Shmyhal added.
