Spain will support farmers amid war in the Middle East
Spain has adopted a package of support for the agricultural sector due to the consequences of the conflict in the Middle East. The total amount of aid for farmers and the fishing industry is 877 million euros. This is stated in Royal Decree-Law No. 7/2026.
In particular, the government is introducing compensation for diesel fuel in the amount of 20 cents per liter. 52 million euros are provided for this, and the program itself will be valid until the end of June.
Separately, 500 million euros will be allocated to support the purchase of fertilizers, the prices of which have increased sharply due to the war. All registered farmers will be able to receive assistance, not only participants in the Common Agricultural Policy programs.
In addition, the government is expanding access to financing: the loan program for the agricultural and fishing sectors has been increased by 300 million euros. Part of the funds will go to subsidize loans, the rest to cover state guarantees.
