Spain has launched a pilot project on the transportation of Ukrainian grain by rail. This is stated on the website of the Ministry of Transport of Spain.

As part of the Spanish project, a Renfe freight train “consisting of 25 containers, each 40 feet (12 meters) in size,” left Madrid late on Tuesday for the Polish city of Chelm, near the border with Ukraine, it said.

“This is a pilot project. . . to demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of transporting grain through a rail network crossing Europe from Łódź to Poland to Barcelona. The train will travel 2,400 km (1,500 miles) to Chelm, where it will pick up 600 tonnes of grain and return to Barcelona in early September,” the ministry said in a statement.
