Serbia lifts import restrictions on vegetable oils and margarines
On 4 March 2025, Serbia lifted restrictions on the import of vegetable oils and margarines. This measure had been in place since March last year in order to protect local producers.
The quantitative restrictions were introduced from 16 March 2024 and were to last for 9 months, until 16 December 2024, but this period was later changed to 16 June 2025.
In order to supply the specified groups of goods to the territory of Serbia, it was necessary to provide a corresponding quota from the relevant department. Vegetable oils and margarine could be imported in quantities that were imported on average over the past four years. The exception is products for which a certificate has been issued in accordance with the rules governing organic production.
