Russia may restrict corn exports
Exports of corn from Russia may be limited due to the low harvest. This opinion was expressed by Dmitry Rylko, Director General of the Institute of Agricultural Market Conditions (IKAR), at the conference “Agroinvestor: PRO crop production”.
“There is a high probability that corn (exports – ed.) will be limited. <…> We have a country that has become very accustomed to Russian corn in recent years. And we would probably ship a million and a half tons of corn there this season. Now a big question arises: will we likely postpone this one and a half million?” Rylko said.
According to the IKAR forecast, this year’s corn harvest will be 11.8 million tons. According to the Russian Federal Center for Agroexport, in 8 months of 2024, Russia exported more than 5 mln tons, which is 7% higher than last year. Among the leaders in the import of culture: Iran – 47%, Turkey – 31% and Libya – 4%.
