Trump announces new tariffs against Canada
US President Donald Trump has announced new tariffs against Canada. This is stated in his post on the social network Truth Social.
Trump reacted to the fact that the Canadian province of Ontario is raising electricity prices for three US states. In response, the US president ordered an additional 25% tariff – up to 50% – on all steel and aluminum from Canada. The changes will come into effect on March 12.
“In addition, Canada must immediately eliminate its anti-American farm tariff of 250% – 390% on various dairy products from the United States, which has long been considered outrageous. I will soon declare an emergency regarding electricity in the threat zone. This will allow the United States to quickly do what is necessary to mitigate this offensive threat to Canada. “If other blatant, long-standing tariffs are not lifted by Canada, I will be significantly increasing tariffs on cars imported into the United States on April 2nd, which will essentially shut down the Canadian auto business forever,” Trump threatened.
The US President once again emphasized that in order for the tariffs to be lifted, Canada must become the 51st state.
“The only thing that makes sense is for Canada to become our cherished 51st state. That would make all tariffs and everything else disappear completely. Canadians will have significantly lower taxes, they will be safer, militarily and otherwise, than ever before, there will be no more Northern Border problems… The artificial dividing line drawn many years ago will finally disappear, and we will have the safest and most beautiful country in the world,” Trump wrote.
