Romanian mortgagees block truck traffic at the second checkpoint on the border with Ukraine
Truck traffic through two checkpoints on the border with Romania has been blocked. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“Truck traffic through the Siret and Vicovu de Sus checkpoints is blocked! Around 12.00, farmers resumed blocking truck traffic in the direction of the Siret checkpoint, which is located opposite the Ukrainian checkpoint Porubne,” the statement said.
Also, the Romanian checkpoint Vicovu de Sus, which is opposite the Ukrainian checkpoint Krasnoilsk, has been blocked.
“Other modes of transport, as well as pedestrians at both checkpoints are issued in accordance with the established procedure for both entry and exit from Ukraine,” the SBGS added.
The protesters complain that the Romanian authorities are giving priority to foreign firms, leaving Romanian transportation and agricultural companies on the verge of bankruptcy. The protesters’ demands concern the abolition of double taxation, measures to optimize the process of passing through customs and the regulation of anti-dumping legislation.
