Ukrainian rapeseed in 2025/26: From exports to processing-driven market

The 1H of the 2025/26 season become a turning point for the rapeseed market and processing products in the Black Sea-Danube-Balkan region.
In Ukraine the 10% export duty on RPS triggered a structural change in crop usage, redirecting volumes from raw RPS exports toward domestic processing. In the 2H of the season, competition between exporters and processors for raw RPS will remain intense.
Even after duty-free export options for farmers was restored, RPS shipments remain at multi-year lows. This confirms that the market shift is not temporary or technical, but fundamental.
Ukrainian RPS exports dropped in the 1H of the season, while crushing expanded, looking now as record-high. As a result, exports of rapeseed oil and meal increased. Destinations are narrowing with high concentration on the EU.
Factors dominating in 2026/27 market:
the condition of winter rapeseed, especially in southern regions.
the ongoing impact of the export duty on market behavior.
Changing global geopolitics, with possibly weaker positions of some RPS suppliers, presents an opportunity for Ukraine to strengthen RPS and rapeseed meal exports to the EU.
