Polish farmers will protest in Warsaw
Polish farmers announce a new large-scale protest in Warsaw. The NSZZ RI Solidarity trade union says that farms are in a critical situation after frosts, drought and several months of low purchase prices. The organization demands urgent support measures from the government. Farmer.pl writes about this.
The protest of farmers and trade unions will take place on May 20 in Warsaw. Among the demands are preferential loans and financial assistance. Against the background of crop losses due to weather conditions, the EU’s Green Deal and the agreement with MERCOSUR.
Not only agricultural organizations, but also trade unions from other industries plan to join the action.
The reason for the protest is the deterioration of the financial situation of farms. According to farmers, this year’s frosts and drought damaged some of the crops, and many already do not understand how to finance further production.
Agricultural organizations expect specific solutions from the authorities, in particular:
- the introduction of preferential loans;
- support for farms affected by weather conditions;
- measures to increase the profitability of production.
