Poland is going to close grain transit from Ukraine
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland will submit a request to the Council of Ministers to suspend the transit of Ukrainian products currently subject to an embargo. This decision was agreed upon by representatives of the Polish government and farmers, the ministry reports.
In addition, all products that could threaten the Polish market should be blocked.
“Today, the most important thing is to develop trade rules between Poland and Ukraine,” said Polish Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michal Kolodziejczak.
He suggested that the decision to ban transit would remain in effect until an agreement is reached on trade rules between Poland and Ukraine that will ensure market protection.
Michal Kolodziejczak noted that the suspension of transit also aims to ensure that the support provided to farmers – mainly grain producers – really goes to farmers.
At the same time, the parties discussed the Green Deal, a comprehensive review of which will simplify the provisions on eco-schemes and reduce bureaucratic burdens.
“We will work together to change the rules, so the value of the document in which we have set out the agreements is very high. It gives us, the government side, a very strong mandate to work with,” added Michal Kolodziejczak.
