Peak season of Ukrainian barley exports came to a close
Ukrainian barley exports in September 2021/22 totaled 1 MMT (-41% from August, +34% from September 2020/21). 3.8 MMT had been exported since the season’s beginning (+31% y-o-y) that is an all-time high for this period, UkrAgroConsult reports.
As before, the top importer of Ukrainian barley is China, absorbing 59% of its exports. The country increased barley purchases from Ukraine by 20% from the same time last year.
The second position, with a 12% share, is still held by Turkey, which imported over 463 KMT of Ukrainian barley in the three months (for comparison, just 23 KMT was purchased for the entire season of 2020/21).
A y-o-y rise is also seen in exports to the following markets: Morocco (up fourfold), Lebanon (up threefold), Jordan (doubled), Libya (+15%).
The following countries reduced purchases: Saudi Arabia (-10% y-o-y), Israel (-5%), Tunisia (-29%), Algeria (-6%).
