Oman could become a hub for Kazakh grain exports
The Sultanate of Oman is interested in the supply of Kazakh grain, and the country is ready to become a distribution hub for its export in the Middle East. This was stated by the Minister of Finance of Oman Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi at a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin.
As reported by the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Omani side also noted the high interest in logistics partnership, emphasizing that the infrastructure of the Sultanate is fully prepared to receive and transship large loads.
In turn, Kazakhstan invited Oman to consider the possibility of creating a new international transport corridor through the territory of Iran. This initiative will be in line with the plans of the Sultanate to become a major logistics hub in the Middle East.
For a detailed study of this initiative, it was proposed to form a trilateral working group with the participation of experts from Kazakhstan, Oman and Iran.
According to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the total volume of Omani investments in the economy of Kazakhstan currently amounts to $253 million. At the same time, both sides noted that the potential for bilateral partnership significantly exceeds this figure.
“The initiative of the Oman Investment Bank to create a joint investment fund with a capitalization of $500 million is of great interest to us. The Government of Kazakhstan is ready to provide the necessary conditions for attracting new investors, including tax preferences, access to industrial zones and infrastructure support,” Serik Zhumangarin emphasized.
The Kazakh side also expressed interest in expanding cooperation in such promising sectors as energy, mining and metallurgy, agro-industrial complex, pharmaceuticals and trade.
