Norway to raise tariffs on agricultural imports from Russia and Belarus
Norway has decided to increase customs tariffs on agricultural imports from Russia and Belarus, with the new rules set to take effect on 1 July 2026, according to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Under the new regulation, agricultural products from the two countries will face an additional 50% tariff. Fertilizers will be subject to a separate duty of 6.5% of customs value plus 5,000 Norwegian kroner (around $526) per tonne.
The ministry stated that goods covered by the regulation will not be eligible for tariff reductions under Norway’s general customs legislation, effectively tightening trade restrictions on these imports.
The biggest impact is expected in the aquaculture sector, as a significant share of imports from Russia and Belarus consists of fish feed and feed ingredients, including vegetable oils used in production.
