NIBULON shipped 4 mln tons of agricultural products through the Danube terminal

“NIBULON is one of the companies that has invested in the development of logistics on the Danube. Before the full-scale invasion, 150 thousand tons of grain were exported across the Danube per year, and now this volume is transported in a month.

This was stated by Volodymyr Slavinsky, NIBULON’s Trade Director, during the BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV conference.

“We managed to build a highly efficient logistics route on the Danube in a fairly short period of time. At the terminal with a storage capacity of 9 thousand tons, we achieved transshipment volumes of 280 thousand tons. We managed to achieve such a high turnover of the facility due to clear planning of deliveries by rail, road and barge turnover. In almost three years (from September 2022 to mid-April 2025), the total volume of shipments by our company through the Danube terminal reached 4 million tons. I can say that this route and investments have fulfilled their mission.

According to Volodymyr Slavinsky, it is now clear that logistics across the Danube will not be able to operate in the same way as it did during peak periods.

“We realized when we were implementing this project that over time, the Danube terminal would turn into a facility for which we would need to find solutions to load it more efficiently. Today, this is our main export route in the coaster segment, and we ship those crops that can be called niche crops in our structure,” says Volodymyr Slavinskyi.

He adds that maintaining the Danube’s competitiveness should be in the state’s interest to have a ready alternative in any unforeseen situation. According to the expert, there will be a demand for such a route, because Ukraine has a river fleet, and it is unlikely that it will be used on the Dnipro to the extent it was before the war.

“Therefore, creating opportunities for the future should be a national decision, and the Danube should be considered as a potential investment object for organizing river transportation, and not only of agricultural products,” says Slavinsky.
