New crop rapeseed strengthens its position in the Ukrainian market due to limited sunseed supply

On the Ukrainian market, rapeseed of the new harvest continues to strengthen its position. Against the background of a limited supply of sunflower seeds, factories have already begun an active search for alternative raw materials, forming demand for rapeseed of the 2026 harvest. At the same time, world crop quotes remain stable, although short-term risks of price correction persist. This was reported by the analytical department of the agricultural cooperative PUSK, established within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council (VAR).

Last week, the world rapeseed market demonstrated resilience despite the decline in oil quotes amid news about negotiations between the USA and Iran. Investors are closely monitoring the situation on the oil market.

“Prices on Euronext continued to be held at around 525-530 euros per ton. At the same time, we do not exclude the possibility of a short-term correction. Oil remains the main influencing factor. Recently, the negotiation process between Washington and Tehran has become more complicated again. If this leads to a new increase in oil prices, the oilseed market, in particular rapeseed, may receive additional support. We continue to assess the prospects for new crop rapeseed as positive. A possible benchmark on Euronext is 550 euros per ton, in June-July the market has a chance to test higher price levels,” PUSK believes.

At the same time, demand for the new crop has noticeably increased on the domestic market. Processing enterprises consider rapeseed as one of the key resources for loading production capacities after the end of the sunflower season.

“Processing plants are already actively looking for new crop rapeseed to replace sunflower seeds. Currently, indicative prices are $570-580 per ton CPT-plant. Large volumes of rapeseed will probably continue to be exported via ports, but the domestic market remains competitive for small batches. Overall, the long-term trend looks positive, and our target on Euronext remains at 550 euros per ton. In the June-July perspective, this level looks quite achievable,” the analyst predicts.

As of early June, prices for new crop rapeseed with delivery in July-August on the Ukrainian market were in the range of 595-600 dollars per ton. At the same time, short-term price fluctuations cannot be ruled out in the coming weeks, so producers are recommended to take a balanced approach to concluding forward contracts.
