Moldova Grain Exports Grow While Oilseeds Become the Key Driver
Moldova is strengthening its wheat export position with high shipment volumes in the current season. According to UkrAgroConsult, the country is becoming more visible in the Black Sea–Danube trade system.
In July–March 2025/26, wheat exports reached 852 K mt, with more than 75% directed to key European destinations, highlighting stable demand.
The market reflects internal pressure, as farmers increase sales mainly to maintain liquidity rather than respond to price growth.
The next season may see weaker wheat production due to reduced sowing areas and rising input costs, which will affect yields and export potential.
UkrAgroConsult notes a structural shift toward oilseeds, which offer higher resilience and profitability under changing conditions.
Export dynamics reflect seasonal acceleration of shipments. Production and export balance signals potential decline in the next season. Crop structure shows gradual shift toward oilseeds.
Key trends
- Strong wheat export growth
- High concentration of export destinations
- Liquidity-driven selling behavior
- Risks of lower wheat production
- Shift toward oilseeds profitability
