Milk powder and butter prices continue to rise in the EU
Prices for milk powder and butter continue to increase on the EU dairy market. Over the past four weeks, skimmed milk powder rose by 2.3% to €309/100 kg, while whole milk powder increased by 2% to €377/100 kg.
Butter prices rose by 1.1% over the same period to €416/100 kg. At the same time, cheddar prices declined by 1.1% to €322/100 kg.
Spot milk prices in Italy also continue to rise and currently stand at €0.45/kg.
Producer costs are increasing as well. In week 38, feed costs were 4.6% higher than during the previous four weeks, while energy costs rose by 14.1%.
As a result, EU dairy producers are facing stronger cost pressure amid higher prices for milk, feed and energy.
