Malaysia’s palm oil exports fell by 22.5% in February
According to the official estimate of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), the country’s palm oil stocks fell 3.9% in February compared to the previous month, reaching a four-month low of 2.7 million tonnes, Reuters reports.
Meanwhile, crude palm oil production last month fell to 1.28 million tonnes, 18.6% lower than in January, while exports fell 22.5% to 1.13 million tonnes.
Previously, the publication, based on a survey of experts, predicted Malaysia’s palm oil stocks for February would reach 2.63 million tonnes, production would reach 1.3 million tonnes, and exports would reach 1.18 million tonnes.
Earlier, global palm oil exports were reported to be growing amid rising prices. In total, since the beginning of the current agricultural year (October-January), Indonesia has shipped 9.54 million tons, which is significantly higher than last year’s 7.99 million tons for the same period of 2024/25 MY, and Malaysia exported 5.72 million tons, slightly lower than last season’s figure (5.76 million tons).
