Large-scale anti-corruption operation underway at Romania’s Constanța port
Massive anti-corruption raids are currently taking place at Romania’s largest port — Constanța. The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) is investigating customs officials and port management over suspected bribery and illegal schemes related to terminal access.
According to investigators, companies allegedly had to pay between €100 and €350 to “speed up” container processing, while state budget losses from the schemes may have reached billions of lei annually.
For Ukraine, this is an important development: Constanța remains a key alternative logistics hub for grain exports and cargo shipments through the Black Sea. Stronger oversight and anti-corruption measures could help make transportation faster and more cost-effective.
