Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture opposes the imposition of duties on grain
The Ministry of Trade of Kazakhstan is holding consultations on the introduction of export customs duties. The Ministry of Agriculture and business representatives oppose this measure. As reported, the duty on agricultural products is discussed in the amount of $50.
“Proposals of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan on the introduction of export duties on commodities are actively discussed within the working group under the Ministry of Trade. Industry ministries, together with NPP “Atameken” and specialized associations, provide their calculations and justifications. Thus, the position of the Ministry of Agriculture and the business community is in the prematurity of the decision on the introduction of export duties on agricultural products, because in connection with the general trend of decline in world and regional prices, the profitability of agricultural production in Kazakhstan is significantly reduced”, – stated in the information of the International Conference ‘EURASIAN AGRICOM’.
As reported, earlier the Ministry of Finance submitted to the Government a proposal to introduce export duties on commodities. The list includes: wheat, rye, barley, oats, corn, rice, sorghum, buckwheat, soybeans, flax seeds, rapeseed, sunflower seeds. The introduction of the duty was explained by finding additional sources of income and stimulating the processing of raw materials inside the country.
