Kazakhstan. Wheat exports in tons grew by 21%, in money – by only 3%
In January-November 2023, Kazakhstan exported 6.7 million tons of wheat and meslin for a total of $1.7 billion. The growth in natural terms was 20.6%, in monetary terms – only 2.9%. This information was provided by monitoring agency Energyprom.kz, citing official statistics. The leaders in imports were Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and China.
Of the total exports of 6.7 million tons, the largest part of products – 4.8 million tons – was traditionally shipped to CIS countries. The growth of shipments to post-Soviet countries amounted to 19%. The main volumes went to Uzbekistan, where the largest volume of grain was exported – 3.3 million tons. In Tajikistan – 888 thousand tons, Turkmenistan – 528 thousand tons. In monetary terms, exports amounted to $1.2 billion.
Kazakhstan shipped 1.9 million tons of wheat to other non-CIS countries – 24.3% more than a year earlier. China is the leader here – 519 thousand tons, compared to 23 thousand tons a year earlier. Italy – 497 thousand tons and Afghanistan – 418 thousand tons were also in the top three key destinations.
Last November, export prices for wheat and meslin decreased by 4% month-over-month and 8% year-over-year.
In monthly dynamics, export prices for CIS countries decreased by 7%, for other countries – by 0.8%.
In annual terms, prices for CIS countries fell by 16.8%, while for the rest of the world, which are not members of the Commonwealth, on the contrary, they increased by 3.2%.
