Kazakhstan is among the top 5 exporters of sunflower meal to the EU
This season, Kazakhstan has strengthened its position in the EU oilseed market. According to the results of four months of 2023/24 marketing year (July-October), the country rose to the fifth place in the list of suppliers of sunflower meal to the EU countries (last season, Kazakhstan was in the sixth position during this period). This was reported on January 17 by the National Association of Oilseed Processors (NAPOC), which unites more than 90% of Kazakhstan’s processors.
Thus, in July-October of 2023/24 MY, Kazakhstan exported 24.15 thsd tonnes of sunflower meal to the EU (against 9.87 thsd tonnes in the same period last season). The NAMC noted that the largest monthly volume was shipped in October 2023 – 11.65 thsd tonnes (against 5.57 thsd tonnes in October 2022).
Kazakh oil mills exported the main volume of Kazakh sunflower meal to Sweden (12.6 thsd tonnes). Denmark purchased 3.9 thsd tonnes, Finland – 2.5 thsd tonnes, Latvia – 2.41 thsd tonnes, Germany – 1.5 thsd tonnes, Estonia – 1.15 thsd tonnes.
According to the results of the first four months of the 2023/2024 season, Ukraine, Argentina, Russia, Moldova and Kazakhstan became the top five suppliers of sunflower meal to the EU.
