Kazakhstan increases flour production to 2.5 mln tons, with 55% exported
Kazakhstan increased wheat flour production to 2.47 mln tons over the first 7 months of the 2025/26 marketing year, with around 55% of the volume directed to exports. This was reported by the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, citing analysts and data from the National Statistics Bureau of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Wheat flour exports for September–March 2025/26 MY amounted to 1.3 mln tons. In total, shipments over the 7-month period reached 1.349 mln tons, nearly 10% higher than in the same period of the previous marketing year.
In March 2026, flour exports increased by 12% compared to February, reaching 191,000 tons (excluding EAEU countries), and were also 15% higher year-on-year. At the same time, imports from some countries declined: Tajikistan reduced purchases by 40% to 3,400 tons, and Turkmenistan by 22% to 9,300 tons.
No flour exports to China were recorded in March, as in the previous two months. Meanwhile, growth was observed in shipments to Uzbekistan, up 36% to 31,500 tons, and to Afghanistan, up 29% to 147,100 tons.
Over the 7-month period, the sharpest declines in imports of Kazakh flour were seen in Uzbekistan (-19%) and China (-59%). At the same time, several countries increased purchases: Kyrgyzstan almost 2.2 times, Turkmenistan 2.3 times, Afghanistan +5.4%, and Tajikistan +10%.
Experts also note that Afghanistan significantly increased imports of Kazakh wheat, more than doubling, while Uzbekistan raised purchases by nearly 26%. The export forecast for Kazakh wheat flour in 2025/26 MY has been raised to 1.9 mln tons.
