Kazakhstan holds around 7 mln tons of old wheat crop stocks
Kazakhstan’s Bureau of National Statistics has published data on grain and legume stocks as of 1 June 2026, showing that the country holds about 6.9 million tonnes of old-crop wheat.
Of this volume, 6.2 million tonnes is milling wheat, 325 thousand tonnes is seed wheat, 370 thousand tonnes is feed wheat, while durum wheat accounts for 321 thousand tonnes.
Total grain and legume stocks in the country are estimated at 8.6 million tonnes. Besides wheat, significant volumes include barley (912 thousand tonnes), rice (138 thousand tonnes), corn (81 thousand tonnes), oats (108.5 thousand tonnes), as well as smaller quantities of buckwheat, millet, and rye.
The largest grain reserves are concentrated in northern regions: Akmola region holds about 2.5 million tonnes, Kostanay region 2.1 million tonnes, and North Kazakhstan region 2 million tonnes, while other regions account for smaller shares.
In external trade, Kazakhstan exported 3.6 million tonnes of old-crop wheat and imported around 493 thousand tonnes, along with smaller volumes of barley, corn, rice, and other crops.
