Jordan purchases 60 thsd tons of wheat in tender
Jordan’s state grain buyer MIT purchased approximately 60,000 metric tons of milling wheat of optional origin in an international tender held on June 9. The volume acquired represents half of the 120,000 tons originally sought in the tender.
Trading house CHS was reported to have won the deal with an offer of $275.20 per ton C&F. The wheat is scheduled for shipment to the port of Aqaba between August 16 and August 31. According to traders, CHS submitted the most competitive bid among the participants.
Other companies participating in the tender included Ameropa with an offer of $277.87 per ton, Olam at $276.50 per ton, Cargill at $279.90 per ton, and Dreyfus at $280.00 per ton. Market sources expect Jordan to issue a new tender for up to 120,000 tons of wheat in the coming days, with deliveries likely to be sought for September and October.
