Iran to develop alternative transport routes to overcome sea blockade

Iran should neutralize the impact of the US-imposed maritime blockade by developing alternative logistics routes and actively using land corridors, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hamidreza Hajibabai said during a virtual meeting.

According to him, state planning for the near term should be based on the assumption that maritime restrictions will remain, even if temporary relaxations may occur. He stressed the need for a stable strategy that is not dependent on foreign policy fluctuations.

Separately, Hajibabai stressed the importance of a clear division of responsibilities between government structures and regional authorities in order to avoid gaps in addressing domestic and external challenges. He also noted that delegating powers to regions should not weaken control over strategic issues.

The Deputy Speaker added that Iran should continue to expand imports through northern ports and maintain stable supplies of basic goods, including grain, oilseeds and other critical raw materials for domestic production. In parallel, the country should develop exports of high value-added products to compensate for external constraints.
