Institute of Climate-Oriented Agriculture Participated in the International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV – 2026
On April 22–23, Kyiv hosted the 24th International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV-2026, UA Agro Restart: Future Strategies 2026–2030, which brought together leading representatives of science, government, and agribusiness.
The Institute of Climate-Oriented Agriculture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (ICOA NAAS) acted as a co-organizer of the event, actively contributing to the development of strategic approaches for the agricultural sector under climate change conditions.
During the panel discussions, key directions for sector development were addressed with participation from government officials, scientists, and business representatives, including experts from ICOA NAAS.
Key panel discussions on the first day included:
- Ukraine 2026–2030: global drivers and local transformations
- Macroeconomic indicators 2026–2030 and their impact on the new business architecture
- Irrigation as an investment in sustainable agricultural production
- Food, Fuel, Future: how Ukraine will scale processing
- Investments in Ukraine’s agricultural sector–2030: opportunities, risks, prospects
The panel “Irrigation as an Investment in Sustainable Agricultural Production” was moderated by Margarita Stepanova, Head of the Department of Geoinformation Technologies, Management and Economic Research at ICOA NAAS.

- Iryna Ovcharenko — Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine
- Taras Kot — First Deputy Head of the State Agency of Ukraine for Land Reclamation, Fisheries and Food Programs
- Yurii Kiriiak — Director of the Kherson Regional Hydrometeorological Center, PhD in Agricultural Sciences
- Denys Marchuk — Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council
- Lesia Tochytska — Head of AWC “LESYNI DZHERELA”
Following the presentations, an active professional discussion took place, focusing on practical aspects of irrigation development, assessment of climate risks, economic feasibility of investments, and integration of innovative approaches into water management systems. The discussion demonstrated strong interest in developing science-based solutions to ensure the sustainability of agricultural production.
ICOA NAAS continues to build a scientific foundation for the sustainable development of Ukraine’s agricultural sector.
