India’s wheat sowing rate is ahead of last year’s pace
According to the Indian Ministry of Agriculture, by November 29, farmers had already sown 20 million hectares of wheat, which is 6.6% more than on the same date last year. This is reported by Reuters.
The increase in wheat sown area will allow to increase its production and bring down prices, which reached the maximum last week.
The area under oilseeds decreased. By November 29, farmers had sown 7.6 million hectares of rapeseed and mustard, down from 8 million hectares a year ago.
In India, wheat sowing takes place from November to January, while harvesting takes place from March to April.
