In Brazil, sugar production will reach almost a record level – USDA

According to the forecast of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Brazil’s sugar production should increase by 3 million tons to a near-record 41.0 million tons, as favorable weather and expansion of the sown area are expected to increase the availability of sugar cane for processing.
This is reported in the USDA report for November.
Favorable sugar prices have encouraged farmers to use their land to grow sugar cane instead of grain. The sugar/ethanol production ratio is expected to favor sugar compared to the previous season; the sugar production ratio will increase from 48% to 49%, while ethanol will fall from 52% to 51%. Consumption and stocks of sugar are declining, while record exports with larger supplies are forecast.
