In a telephone conversation with Yitzhak Herzog, Zelenskyy invited Israel to join the Grain from Ukraine initiative

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with the President of Israel Yitzhak Herzog.

Zelensky expressed hope for deepening cooperation between Ukraine and Israel after the formation of the government. He reported this in Telegram.

“He also talked about the needs to support our energy industry and invited us to join the #GrainfromUkraine initiative,” the Ukrainian president noted.

Yitzhak Herzog reported on Twitter that Zelensky expressed his condolences regarding the terrorist attack in Jerusalem that took place yesterday.

“He also emphasized the deep connection between the countries, which is a connection not only between leaders, but between citizens, among whom there are many Jewish immigrants from Ukraine,” Herzog said.

He added that the public in Israel cares about peace for the Ukrainian people and works in various ways to alleviate their humanitarian suffering.

“I described to him the process of forming the government and emphasized the desire to continue the dialogue with Ukraine on various humanitarian issues, especially regarding the upcoming winter, and immediately after the formation of the government. We agreed to maintain contact in the future,” the Israeli president said.

We will remind that the Grain from Ukraine initiative is designed to provide grain to at least five million people in countries that need it by the summer of 2023. The essence of the program is the direct purchase by participating countries of agricultural products of Ukrainian producers and their transfer to countries on the brink of famine.
