IFC considers €60 mln for two wind farms in Ukraine with 257.6 MW capacity
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is considering providing up to €60 mln for the construction of two Elementum Energy wind farms in Ukraine with a combined capacity of 257.6 MW. The total cost of the projects is estimated at around €400 mln.
The projects include the 57.6 MW Dunai wind farm in southern Odesa region and the 200 MW Ternopil wind farm in western Ukraine. The Ternopil facility is planned to be connected to an existing 330/110/10 kV substation.
The proposed financing is part of a corporate green financing facility of up to €250 mln for Elementum Energy. IFC may also mobilize additional funding from other lenders, while potential co-investment could total another €79 mln.
The project also includes a pilot battery energy storage system with a capacity of 10 MW and 20 MWh to be installed at one of the company’s existing facilities.
The Dunai wind farm is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2026, while the Ternopil project is scheduled for 2028. The EBRD previously approved up to €70 mln in financing for the construction of the two wind farms.
