“Grain Initiative: one million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products shipped to Egypt
On March 30, as part of the “Grain Initiative”, 6 vessels with Ukrainian food left the ports of Greater Odesa. Among them is the bulk carrier SERENITY IBTIHAJ with 27 thousand tons of wheat for Egypt.
Since the launch of the Grain Initiative, 44 vessels have exported 1 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products to this African country.
Egypt is the most populous country among Arab states and the third most populous in Africa. As Egypt is experiencing a financial crisis, the country is dependent on systematic grain supplies and stable prices. The Grain Initiative, which has been working systematically, can meet these needs. At the last tender, Egypt purchased another new batch of Ukrainian wheat amounting to 120 thousand tons. It will be shipped next month.
Ukraine continues to be a guarantor of food security for the whole world. The international community could have received more Ukrainian agricultural products if the Russians had not deliberately slowed down inspections of ships in the Bosphorus.
As of the evening of March 30, 89 ships are awaiting inspection in Turkish territorial waters.
Since August 1, 857 vessels have exported 26.2 million tons of Ukrainian food to Asia, Europe, and Africa from the ports of Greater Odesa.
