Average winter wheat harvest forecast in Kazakhstan
Kazhydromet has updated its forecast for winter wheat yields in the southern regions of Kazakhstan. In most growing areas, yields are expected to be at the level of average long-term values.
“Taking into account the current agrometeorological situation and the weather forecast for the future period, winter wheat yields are forecast to be within the average long-term values in Almaty (from 1.44 to 2.59 t/ha), Zhambyl (from 1.44 to 1.98 t/ha), most of Turkestan (from 1.43 to 3.31 t/ha) and Zhetysu (from 1.48 to 2.39 t/ha),” Kazhydromet reports.
At the same time, in the Karatal district of Zhetysu, due to a lack of precipitation in the stem and heading phases, yields are forecast to be below normal, from 1.21 to 1.41 t/ha.
In the Turkestan region, the yield of winter wheat is expected to be higher than the norm in the Arys (1.54-1.74 t/ha), Kazygurt (2.48-2.68 t/ha), Ordabasy (2.28-2.48 t/ha) and Saryagash (1.54-1.74 t/ha) districts.
