Grain duties destroyed the agricultural machinery market in Russia
The Russian agricultural machinery market is in deep crisis due to grain tariffs that have undermined the financial capacity of farmers. According to independent agricultural expert Alexander Korbut, in 2025, sales of agricultural machinery fell by more than 30%. “The sites at the factories are clogged with machinery — there are no buyers! More precisely, there are buyers, but they have no money!” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
The epicenter of the crisis was Rostselmash, one of the largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery in Russia. Over the year, the plant’s revenue fell by 20 billion rubles from 78 billion rubles in 2024, when net profit amounted to 6.9 billion rubles. 2,500 unsold combines and tractors accumulated in warehouses. In June, the plant stopped work, and employees were sent on forced paid leave. In the future, unpaid leave and possible nationalization of the enterprise are in the pipeline, which has already been discussed in the media. Rostselmash has completely canceled its investment program for 2025.
