Global soybean meal production set to reach a record high in 2025/26
Global soybean meal production in the MY 2025/26 is expected to reach a record 291.8 million tonnes, according to updated estimates from Oil World. The forecast has been revised upward and would represent an increase of nearly 9 million tonnes compared to the previous season, supported by strong soybean crushing activity and abundant soybean supplies.
Production growth is being driven by record global soybean inventories and relatively low soybean meal prices, which continue to encourage its use in livestock feed. Demand is expanding not only in major consuming countries but also across a growing number of emerging markets.
Analysts estimate that soybean meal consumption outside the six largest markets — China, the United States, the EU, Brazil, Indonesia, and Vietnam — could rise to a record 96 million tonnes in 2025/26. This highlights the increasing global role of soybean-based feed products and the broadening geographical base of demand.
Africa remains one of the fastest-growing regions for soybean meal consumption, supported by rising soybean imports and expanding domestic crushing capacity. In Latin America, stronger competition among exporters from the United States, Brazil, and Argentina is improving supply conditions and creating additional opportunities for importers.
In Asia, soybean meal demand continues to benefit from solid profitability in the livestock sector. Analysts also point to Mexico, where soybean meal imports could reach a new record of 2.6–2.7 million tonnes in the 2025/26 season, underscoring the ongoing growth in global demand for protein feed ingredients.
