France maintains strong grain crop ratings as heatwave approaches
According to FranceAgriMer, the condition of grain crops across France remained stable over the past week and continues to outperform last year’s levels. Overall crop ratings remain high, despite seasonal risks emerging in the near term.
Soft wheat showed particularly strong performance, with 80% of crops rated in good or excellent condition. This figure was unchanged from the previous week and remains significantly higher than a year earlier.
Winter barley also maintained steady progress, with 76% of crops classified as good or excellent. This is notably above last year’s level, reflecting more favorable growing conditions during the season.
Spring crops showed a slightly mixed trend, as 85% of spring barley remains in good or excellent condition. While this is a small decline compared to the previous week, it is still well above last year’s figures.
Meanwhile, corn planting in France has reached 96% of the planned area, with 90% of crops currently rated good or excellent. However, forecasters warn that an incoming heatwave could put pressure on crops in the coming days.
