EU to help Ukraine integrate its agricultural sector into the European market — Marta Kos
The European Commission will support Ukraine in integrating its agricultural sector into the EU single market. However, the specific conditions of this process, including possible transition periods for Ukrainian farmers, will be determined during negotiations with EU member states. This was stated by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos during a briefing for Ukrainian journalists in Brussels on November 4.
According to Kos, discussions on the future terms of integration of Ukraine’s agricultural sector will become possible after the opening of the fifth negotiating cluster, which includes agriculture. The cluster could be opened before the end of 2026.
“First, we need to start negotiations, open Cluster 5, which includes agriculture, and then we will see what concerns the member states bring to the negotiating table,” the European Commissioner said.
At the same time, the European Commission intends to oversee the negotiation process and help Ukraine adapt its agricultural sector to European requirements.
“We will help Ukraine prepare, including for the integration of agriculture into European systems,” Marta Kos emphasized.
