EU soft wheat exports fell by 29% this season

From the beginning of the current season (July 1, 2023) to October 13, the EU countries exported 6,641.0 thousand tons of soft wheat, which is 29% less than for the same period last season. This is reported by Zerno On-line agency with reference to the European Commission. Exports of durum wheat increased two and a half times to 163.9 thousand tons.
The largest buyers of soft wheat of European origin were Nigeria (991.1 thousand tons), Egypt (691.7 thousand tons), Morocco (502.8 thousand tons), Great Britain (484.5 thousand tons) and Algeria (450.7 thousand tons).
The export potential of European soft wheat in the current season has been severely reduced due to crop failure. According to the Organization of European Grain Traders (COCERAL), the gross harvest of soft wheat in the European Union amounted to 114.9 million tons (126.4 million tons last season). Durum production rose to 7.5 (7.4) million tons.
EU soft wheat imports for the fifteen weeks of the current season rose to 2.6 million tons, up 7% from last season. Soft wheat shipments are mainly from Ukraine (1.89 million tons).
