EU increased imports of key oilseed meals to a maximum in 2024/25
According to Oil World, EU imports of the five main oilseed meals reached a record high since the start of 2024/25, reaching 24.99 million tonnes.
Soybean meal experienced the largest increase in shipments, reaching 20.34 million tonnes in October-August 2024/25 (+3.5 million tonnes annually), primarily due to increased imports from Argentina (+2 million tonnes), Brazil (+1.4 million tonnes), and India (+0.55 million tonnes), while imports from the US decreased by 0.4 million tonnes.
There was a slight resurgence in rapeseed meal imports (primarily from Canada) during the summer, estimated at 421,000 tonnes since the start of the season (still below last year’s level of 647,000 tonnes).
Imports of sunflower meal amounted to 2.49 (3.06) million tons, palm kernel meal – 1.45 (1.41) million tons.
