During Poland’s presidency of the EU Council in 2025, Sekerski wants to restrict imports of Ukrainian goods
Poland wants to limit the access of goods to the European market during its presidency of the EU Council in 2025. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of Poland Czeslaw Sekerski, Farmer.pl reports.
According to him, the Polish presidency will deal with the external affairs of the European Union, especially cooperation with the Mercosur countries and relations with Ukraine.
“In the context of Ukraine in 2025, we will seek to introduce new conditions for cooperation. We want to significantly limit the European Union’s openness to goods from Ukraine, as they undermine the stability of European markets,” Sekerski said.
He also expressed hope that Poland would not allow the agreement with Mercosur to worsen the economic situation of Polish agriculture, “because we have our own Mercosur on the other side of the wall, that is, Ukraine.”
Mercosur includes Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
