Corn and soybean planting is nearing completion in the US
American farmers have 3% of the planned area left to plant corn, according to a report from the National Agricultural Statistical Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (NASS).
By June 8, corn seedlings had already appeared on 87% of the area, which corresponds to the five-year average for that date.
Soybean sowing is also coming to an end. By June 8, 90% of the planned area had been sown with soybeans, which is more than the five-year average (88%).
At the same time, winter wheat is being harvested in the country. By June 8, 4% of the area had been threshed (11% on the same date last year and 7% on average over the past five years). The condition of winter wheat crops is better than last year. The share of crops in good and excellent condition is 54% (47% a year ago), in satisfactory condition – 30% (34%), in poor and very poor condition – 16% (19%).
The condition of spring wheat crops is worse than last year. The share of crops in good and excellent condition is 53% (72% a year ago), in satisfactory condition – 38% (25%), in poor and very poor condition – 9% (3%).
According to forecasts of the US Department of Agriculture, the gross corn harvest in the 2025/2026 season will be 401.8 (377.6) million tons, soybeans – 118.1 (118.8) million tons, winter and spring wheat – 52.3 (53.6) million tons.
