Global agribusiness company COFCO International has reported significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions across its key agricultural supply chains. According to its 2025 Sustainability Report, the company reduced Scope 3 emissions by 23% for corn and 11% for soybeans.

COFCO said these achievements come amid increasing climate volatility, supply chain disruptions, and rising global food demand. The company believes that building more resilient and sustainable agricultural production systems is essential for long-term food security.

COFCO International CEO David Dong said that progress in reducing FLAG (Forests, Land, and Agriculture) emissions, together with securing more than US$1 bn in sustainability-linked financing tied to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), is enabling the company to scale up investments in more sustainable supply chains.

The company also reported that more than 99% of its soybean sourcing in Brazil and Argentina, as well as corn sourcing in Brazil, is now free from deforestation and land conversion. This represents a key milestone in COFCO’s environmental strategy.

In 2025, COFCO International sold 100.4 mln tons of agricultural commodities, including 82.1 mln tons of grains and oilseeds, generating US$34.5 bn in revenue. Headquartered in Geneva, the company operates assets in 35 countries and supplies customers in more than 100 countries worldwide.
