Coconut oil price hits new annual low
The global price of coconut oil, which is widely used in confectionery, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics, hit its lowest level in almost a year in January, according to World Bank data.
According to the organization, the price of coconut oil last month fell 5.4% compared to December, to $2,197 per ton. This represents the lowest price since February 2025, when the price of coconut oil was $1,990 per ton.
Coconut oil is widely used in the food industry, particularly in the production of confectionery products such as chocolate, ice cream, cakes, and cookies. It can also be used to fry chips, popcorn, and other snacks.
It was previously reported that coconut oil is becoming a premium global commodity due to supply shortages. Last summer, prices soared to $4,840 per ton in India and $2,990 on the global market, driven by a sharp imbalance in supply and demand.
