China unveils plans to accelerate agricultural modernization
China plans to accelerate agricultural modernization over the next five years by establishing special demonstration zones where advanced technologies and deep reforms will be implemented. By 2030, the country plans to establish and qualify up to 500 such zones, according to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
According to the plan, work will be carried out in the following six priority areas:
- grain production;
- livestock farming;
- specialized, high-efficiency agricultural sectors;
- intelligent agriculture;
- urban agriculture;
- farming in drought conditions.
The establishment of such zones is an important means of accelerating agricultural modernization and coordinating efforts to promote high-tech and environmentally friendly agriculture, as well as to improve quality and build a brand in agriculture.
The plan calls for the creation of replicable and scalable development models for modernizing the country’s agriculture.
