China. Sugar production reached about 10 million tons

In the season 2023/24 MY in China, the volume of sugar production exceeded the forecasts and amounted to slightly less than 10 million tons, which is 1 million tons more than in the previous season.

This is reported by the International Sugar Organization (ISO).

Monthly import volumes remained low. According to the statistics of the Chinese side, during the three months from March to May, sugar imports amounted to only 80 thousand tons, although the total imports in the 2023/24 season are still projected at 5 million tons. In 2023, imports increased only in July, due to higher world sugar prices.
