China purchased half as much corn from Ukraine in May
This season’s Ukrainian corn exports totaled almost 20.75 MMT (-23% y-o-y). 2.25 MMT of corn was exported in May (-15% from April and -6% from May 2019/20), UkrAgroConsult reports.
In May, China bought half as much corn from Ukraine as the month before, and its share in Ukrainian corn exports consequently decreased by 2%, to 38%.
China is still the only major buyer that stepped up corn purchases from Ukraine versus last season (up almost two times), while other importers, on the contrary, reduced them: the EU, Egypt, Iran, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Israel and Algeria.
